Youth Ministry


The Junior High Program: "byg" 
  meets biweekly on Friday evenings, 7:00 - 9:30 PM, throughout the school year.  The process is designed to assist 7th and 8th graders find a sense of community, address faith and social concerns with their peers through interaction with the volunteers and staff leaders.  Meetings begin with dinner and teens are welcome to stay and socialize for a half hour afterwards. 

 

The High School Program: "BYG" is tailored to the concerns of teen-agers, whether spiritual, social or peace and justice oriented.  Meetings are held weekly on Wednesday evenings, from 7-9 PM.  There are snacks and social time at the beginning and end of each meeting to help teens connect and build genuine community. 


  •    Location:  Regular Youth Group meetings for both programs are held at the XU Alumni Center 1507 Dana Ave. in the spacious cafeteria on the ground floor.  Entrance is through the side door facing Dana Ave.  
  •    Registration:  Teens who are attending BYG / byg on a regular basis need to have Info/Medical Forms turned with parent contact information and health information and concerns noted so they are available as needed to staff and volunteers working with the teens. 

 

Everyone is Welcome: All meetings are open to teen parishioners and their friends.  Guests that come to youth group once or twice should bring:  a permission note with a phone number where a parent can be reached during the meeting time and also articulate any serious health concerns and information how to handle these should they come up while the youth is in our care e.g. diabetes, serious asthma, fainting spells, etc. 

 

Schedule of Events: A calendar of meeting dates and special events are sent to our emailing list.  We will be glad to put you on the list and send information directly to your home.  Please contact Sue to be added to the list. 

 

Confirmation formation is available to high school teens every 3 years. Eighth grade siblings of high school enrollees are also invited.  We hope to encourage family members to participate and work together in passing on the "faith of the family." 
 
Formation includes: a Parent/Teen Meeting, seven monthly meetings, a Spring Seminar, three service projects, a retreat and a Sponsor Day of Reflection.
