RANDOM QUOTE

There is but one ocean though its coves have many names; a single sea of atmosphere with no coves at all; the miracle of soil, alive and giving life, lying thin on the only earth, for which there is no spare.

CRS COLLECTION

Today we take up The Catholic Relief Services Collection. You are invited to give hope to Jesus in disguise. Give hope to the community that has lost its livelihood to a crop disease. Give hope to the refugee child, separated from her mother. Give hope to the immigrant, trying to keep faith alive in a foreign land. The Catholic Relief Services Collection helps to fund programs that give hope to refugees, immigrants, and the impoverished, including victims of war, natural disaster, and drought. Through humanitarian, economic, pastoral, and advocacy efforts, The Catholic Relief Services Collection gives hope. Please be generous in today’s Collection. Please make checks out to Bellarmine Chapel. (Note: A small portion of this collection supports archdiocesan initiatives not directly related to Catholic Relief Services, such as CISE.)

CHILD ABUSE VIGIL OF HOPE

Today at 5 PM at Spring Grove Cemetery: Blue Ribbon Vigil of Hope We are helping to host a community gathering in support of survivors of abuse and their families. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a good time to meet and speak out.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY COLLECTION

Shalom Coalition of Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity is building its 14th house this year!! Bellarmine has been a member of this coalition since house number five. With seven other churches we build one home a year. That means this will be our ninth family to assist into independent decent housing. Thank you for all you have done in the past. We ask you to continue your generosity with a contribution during the collection next Sunday, April 25. Please make checks payable to Bellarmine Chapel with Habitat for Humanity in the memo line.

Remember, this is not a handout, but a hand up. The Larry Burrows Memorial House, named in honor of the co-site coordinator of the past many years, will be a one-story home at 2304 Boone St. in East Walnut Hills. There will be a dedication today, April 18, at 2 PM. All are welcome to attend. The family will work 500 hours of sweat equity, and will pay a 20 year interest-free mortgage. There are many of you who help every year by donating, bringing lunches to feed the construction crew, and building. We thank you all!!

CATHOLIC MEN'S FELLOWSHIP

This year's Catholic Men's Conference was another success, but conferences are not our objective. Our objective is to get men "out of the pews" and engaged with other men to share their faith journeys and challenges in a confidential supportive setting.

If you've been called to go deeper in your relationships with God, your family, your friends and your colleagues, please come and share with like-minded men in a friendly, confidential, prayerful and supportive environment. It has made a huge difference in my life these past 17 years. So, please contact me and let me invite you to a Catholic Men's Fellowship meeting. SVDP MEETS A SPECIAL PERSON

Recently, our SVDP volunteers were asked by a social worker from the Council on Aging for assistance for an elderly woman who lives near campus. "Eleanor’s" request was simple: she needed a new mattress because the old one was not supporting her back and she was waking up with back aches. She is 83 years old and still very active. Several days a week she went to the nearby public school, usually walking, to work with second graders, helping them with their reading. Eleanor is also a faithful participant in her church and was happy to stand and pray with the volunteers. The SVDP volunteers were inspired by Eleanor’s willingness to give back to her community, and pleased to be able to grant her request, in large part due to the ongoing generosity of Bellarmine Chapel in supporting our neighbors in need.
